Strategic Defence Secures Discontinuation in Fatal Collision Case
Outcome
Overview:
Our client [the defendant] faced serious allegations of conspiring to pervert the course of justice in connection with a fatal road traffic collision. Following strategic representations by Ashmans Solicitors, the case was discontinued.
The charges were significant, carrying the risk of a lengthy custodial sentence, and required our robust and comprehensive legal defence.
The Allegations:
Our client, along with four other individuals, was charged with conspiracy to pervert the course of justice. The Prosecution alleged that our client conspired with four others within the West Yorkshire and Lincolnshire region to conceal a vehicle that had been involved in a fatal road traffic collision. This was claimed to be an attempt to frustrate the police investigation.
If convicted, our client would have received a lengthy custodial sentence, and so the legal defence needed to be watertight, robust and fully comprehensive.
The Challenges:
This complex case posed several key challenges, including the involvement of multiple defendants across different regions. The fact that the road traffic collision was fatal, heightened the stakes for our client.
Successfully overcoming all of these challenges was critical to preserving our client’s freedom and future.
