The Claimant a 48-year-old restaurant worker was seriously injured as a rear seat passenger when a double decker collided at speed into the rear of his vehicle. The impact was severe and unexpected as a result of which the Claimant sustained severe injuries. The Claimant’s injuries included fracture injuries to the C2 and C3 vertebrae, numerous rib fractures, facial injuries, scarring, a mild brain injury and various soft tissue injuries. The Claimant had to wear a halo brace and his neck was in a collar for two months. He remained an inpatient for 11 days at Hospital and was off work for a number of months requiring care from his wife and family members. We successfully included a significant claim for past and future loss of earnings and a care and assistance claim. He also experienced adverse psychological injuries and was provided with cognitive behaviour therapy to help with his rehabilitation and recovery. We obtained a number of medical experts’ reports to assist with the claim including an Orthopaedic Report, Ear, Nose & Throat Specialist, Consultant Neurologist and Consultant Psychologist. We successfully obtained interim payments from the Defendant in the region of £20,000.00 and on conclusion recovered in excess of £220,000.00 by way of settlement.
