The Claimant a 15-year-old schoolboy was injured in a high-speed crash in which the driver of his vehicle lost control and the vehicle left the carriageway colliding with a number of parked cars and a pedestrian. Immediately following the accident the Claimant became unconscious and was taken to hospital by the emergency services. The Claimant sustained multiple injuries including a traumatic amputation of the tip of the ring finger, damage to the middle finger, head injuries, lacerations and soft tissue injuries to the shoulders, lower back, hips and legs, requiring medical examinations by a number of experts including an Orthopaedic, Hand Specialist, Neurologist and a Plastic Surgeon. He also experienced adverse psychological injuries and as a result, was seen by a Psychologist and provided cognitive behaviour therapy. We also successfully included a significant successful care claim. The Defendant driver was sentenced to three and a half years in prison and the Claimant felt that justice was served. We liaised with a number of Defendants on this matter including the MIB and were successful despite allegations of contributory negligence.
