Driving Ban

Under UK motoring law, drivers who accumulate 12 or more penalty points within a three-year period may face a mandatory disqualification under the totting up system. The court will normally impose a minimum six-month driving ban, unless a successful exceptional hardship argument is presented.

If you reach 12 points, the court will usually impose a minimum six-month disqualification. If you have previously been disqualified under the totting up rules within the last three years, the ban may increase to 12 months or even two years, depending on your circumstances.
