Perverting the Course of Justice

It involves conduct intended to interfere with the course of public justice, such as false allegations, fabricated evidence or witness interference. 

This offence is indictable only and carries a maximum sentence of life imprisonment, although sentences typically depend on the seriousness of the conduct, the impact on proceedings and the level of planning involved. Immediate custodial sentences are common in serious cases.
